I just wanted everyone (or whoever happens upon this board) to know that I am here. Right now we are having issues with our furnace and the computer room is currently unheated so I don't spend any more time than I must on the computer right now. I do check my e-mail and stop by the board, so if anyone wants to get a hold of me just leave a message. |

I am hoping to have the heating and plumbing problems fixed soon, although I hope it warms up so the work can get done (it is pretty far into the negative temps here). Until that is fixed I am checking my e-mail and the board as often as I can, and I WILL reply to any message as soon as I can. If I haven't answered when you check back, it just means I haven't been online yet. |

Em hotep, I am trying to check with the board daily, and have been working on a website on Atenism. (Per Aten) If you need me feel free to send my a message or e-mail and I will try to get back to you as soon as I can. |

I didn't want to start a new thread, and I couldn't find where I orginally posted the message I am thinking of, so I am posting here. I had posted that I couldn't get my computer to read the CD-R that has all my old Atenist stuff on it, but I used a friends computer and it will read it. (I am starting to think my cd drive may be slowly working its way to the parts store in the sky.) |

Hi, I visited your site. Very nice. I am glad there is someone out there who believes in Aten. May Aten bless you! |

Thank you. I believe there are many Atenists out there, they just don't know where to go or what to do. I also think that there are many more people out there who would profit from learning about Atenism, but just haven't been shown it yet. |

So what is your recommendation as to how and proceed in spreading the good news of Atenism? How do we gather the scattered flock together? Just having a web presence doesn't seem to be enough. I initially started Akhetaten Fellowship 9 years ago with the original website and a forum hosted elsewhere. Initially, there was some interest, but then eventually activity died down and since then I created my blog with www.atenism.org pointed to it, and then created this forum at www.atenism.net. Atenism.org is #2 on google if you search for the keyword 'Atenism' out of 17,000 sites referencing Atenism. Tell me how I can convince the world that Atensim is the true religion? If you have a plan, then I will take the appropriate action. So far the plan eludes me. |

I am still thinking on how to bring Atenism to the world. If we had enough people I would say we should have some kind of festival/public event to bring Atenism into the public view. I think it is necessary to come up with pamphlets which describe Atenism and answer possible questions (as well as listing websites where people can go to find more.) Quite frankly, the most important thing would be a physical place where people could go and talk and worship(which is something I am unable to do right now). I have also been trying to think of ways to get the word out there on the internet. When I have some more free time I plan to do some research for forums that have people interested in ancient egypt, particularly the Amarna era. A few posts on forums like that might help, and getting Atenist websites into the various web directories. (The closest category I found is usually under Paganism and the sub-category of Kemetic.) I have been going around the various directories and putting my site (Per Aten) on their waiting lists to be crawled. I have considered going to places like witchvox (although we are not wiccan, and I don't think pagan applies either). A friend of mine suggested creating a virtual temple. |

Another idea, adding a bit to wikepedia about modern Atenism. Either adding to the atenism article, or creating an article on modern Atenism linking to kemetism, Atenism, Akhenaten, Amarna, and whatever else (as well as links to Atenist websites). |

I spent free time looking at various sites on how to start a church/temple, and it is generally agreed that we need to go out and tell people about us. We have to find some way to get our message out there, and I think the internet is a good way to start that. (Last time it started well, but I'm guessing it never went beyond the internet.) As I have said we also need to get out there and get listed in the directories under the closest category that fits (I suggest this as a lot of search engines use the Open Directory Project), and to consider the problem of keywords. It is great that atenism.org is number 2, but we need people to have a reason to be doing a search on that. Plus we need other keywords that will pull people to the site. I think it will be interesting as some could consider us kemetic reconstructionists, although only kind of. Besides the internet we need to get attention out in the real world, and creating some pamphlets would be great for that. Also, a little flyer to put in metaphysical shops, new age book stores, and the like. Something with a little information about Atenism, a website address, and maybe some contact info. (I also want to state that I still think a wiki article, or addition to a pre-existing one would be a good idea.) Locally I can think of at least one shop where I could do that, and maybe a second one about half an hours drive away. Considering that I live in a small town then someone near, or in, a city can do better. Most importantly any website must be organized and easy to use. It makes things easier, and if the site is difficult to use it could scare people off. I also like my friends idea of a virtual shrine/temple. In the beginning most people will not be able to get together to worship and this will give them a chance to do that. We must keep the forums up and running as well, as that leaves a place for the Atenist community to come together when it forms. People need a place where they can get together, especially if they are not able to do it in the real world. We also need rituals that people can use, and a good listing of general things that we believe (with a statement that not everyone is required to agree 100%). |
