My name is Khepri. I'm 22 and i love in Glasgow, Scotland (UK). I stumbled across Akhenaten when i was watching Egypt documentaries. I have alway's been intrested in egypt and how they lived. When i saw the first image of Akhenaten on T.V i immediately paused, i stared at his face for ages and i felt like i knew him. Somehow his face seemed so familiar, like when you see a family member walk past you in the street. From then on i became almost obsessed with learning more and more about him. I bought the books and watched the videos online and off. I felt like i could relate to him. Like i knew him. I know that sounds weird but it's just the way i felt. I understood him. I understood his way of life. But most of all i understood the Aten. This year i decided to get a sleeve (Tattoo) on my arm, i went to my local parlour and got chatting to the guy doing my tat. He had a cuff on his wrist with a cartouche and ankhs on either side. I asked him what it meant because it looked so familiar, and to my surprise it said Akhenaten. I couldn't believe i found someone else who not only knew of him but related to him in such a big way.... Finding this site has really opened my eyes. For so long i have wanted to be able to call it my religion and people have laughed at me because it doesn't exist. But now i know it does. It really does. And i have found my home. Khepri |

Hi Khepri, the religion of Aten does exist and is practiced even though it's difficult to gauge just how many people in the world truly call Atenism their religion. I remember as a child I first heard of the name of Akhenaten watching a television documentary on King Tut, but I had no idea who Akhenaten was because he was just mentioned in brief passing. Yet the name Akhenaten stuck in my head for whatever reason. I was fascinated by King Tut as a Child and often fantasized of being in ancient Egypt during his short reign. Now it's universally accepted the King Tut is the son of Akhenaten and that a large portion of the treasures found in King Tut's tomb are AKhenaten's. Even Tut's golden mask was once Akhenaten's, the face removed and replaced with the image of King Tut. Even Tut's name was Tutankhaten before it was changed to Tutankhamun. Tut's throne show's the image of Aten. Tut certainly must of been an Atenist at heart and was perhaps murdered for fear he would follow in his father's footsteps. So yes you are not alone in the worship of Aten and with your fascination with Akhenaten and Atenism. Meryre |
